Hunting Season

February 13, 2006

Why watch reality TV when real life is so much more interesting, and who needs stand-up comedy when the news is so much funnier?

To be sung to the tune of "The Fox Went Out on a Chilly Night":

Oh, the veep went out in the Texas light
Prayed Jesus guide my gun just right
I want to bag some birds in flight
Before my heart runs down O, down O, down O
I want to bag some birds in flight
Before my heart runs down

He heard some rustlin' in the trees
Said Jesus aid my aim now please
Brought his buddy to his knees
Ol' heart missed not a beat O, beat O, beat O
Brought his buddy to his knees
Ol' heart missed not a beat

He heard a noise at the White House door
Said Help me God, I'll ask no more
Fired and boss man hit the floor
But then his heart ran down O, down O, down O
Fired and boss man hit the floor
But then his heart ran down

(Improvements and additional verses welcome.)

P.S. Feb. 15: Molly Ivins's take on the accident and especially the White House spin thereof is well worth reading. It's on the AlterNet board at http://www.alternet.org/story/32240/.
