A Long Game (by Rhodry)

January 27, 2008

Susanna sat at her desk for a long time. She was a sad puppy! I looked at her. She did not see me. Then I got a toy and squeaked. She looked at me. I went to the door and squeaked. She said, "Do you want to play, Rhodry?" I want to play! We went outside. I chased the toy. I caught it. I ran around and squeaked! "Look at you, Rhodry!" said Susanna.

Susanna went inside and came back out. She had a brush and a comb. I do not like that game! She said, "You have leaves in your tailfeathers and Betsy is coming to take pictures." Susanna brushed me and gave me a cookie. Then we played squeak. I like that game!

Then Betsy came. She smelled like a puppy but she did not have any cookies. She had a big bag. The bag looks like Allie's bag. Allie's bag has brushes in it. Uh-oh! Betsy did not have brushes. We played another game. Betsy said, "Walk around that big bush." Susanna said, "Come on, Rhodry!" I came. We did that some more. Then Susanna said, "Sit." I sat. Susanna sat too. Then she said, "Lie down." I lay down. Susanna lay down too. She scratched my ears. Betsy made noises like Dis Kitty and Black Kitty. She said, "Beautiful!" I am a handsome puppy!

I wanted to go see Pearl. Pearl's people got in the car. I wanted to go too. Susanna did not want me to get up. Sometimes she says, "Get up, Rhodry, it is time to go inside." Sometimes she says, "Stay still, Rhodry!" I wiggled! We played that game a long time but then we stopped. Susanna was a happy puppy!

Your friend,

Rhodry
